Maundy Thursday (Holy Thursday)

Maundy Thursday is the feast or holy day on the Thursday before Easter that commemorates the Last Supper of Jesus Christ with the Apostles. Also known as the passover meal that Jewish people share to celebrated the time when God delivered Moses and the children of Israel out of Egypt, bondage and the hands of Pharaoh.

On this day, we as Christians remember the Last Supper. Many Christian denominations continue to celebrate this event each year. During the meal Jesus took bread and wine blessed them and shared them with his disciples. Christians continue to share bread and wine or the fruit of the vine as part of our worship in church.

This Holy Night is often overlooked for its importance. For it is on this night that Jesus was betrayed by Judas Iscariot in the Garden of Gesthemane. Maundy Thursday is the day before Good Friday. It is one of the lesser known days of the Christian calendar.
